Review: Pretty Woman – The Musical

If you are looking for a night of pure, unadulterated nostalgia wrapped in high-energy theatre, then “Pretty Woman: The Musical” at Montecasino’s Teatro is a mandatory stop. It isn’t just a stage adaptation; it is a vibrant, rhythmic tribute to a story that defined a generation of romantic comedies.

A Cinematic Experience on Stage:

One of the most impressive feats of this production is its ability to honor the source material while carving out its own identity. It hits every major story beat with precision, the iconic red dress, the high-stakes polo match, and that famous jewelry box snap, ensuring fans of the film feel right at home. The transition from screen to stage is seamless, using clever set changes that transport you instantly from the gritty streets of Hollywood Boulevard to the gilded luxury of the Beverly Wilshire.

Michael Movie Review

“Michael” is an intense cinematic ride and perfectly captures the King of Pop’s life from 1966 to 1988.

Watching it on the newly opened largest IMAX screen in Gauteng at The Zone @ Rosebank made the experience even more unforgettable. The visuals, the sound, and the overall atmosphere elevated every moment on screen.

This film pulls you in with powerful storytelling, strong performances, especially from Jaafar Jackson as Michael, and emotional moments that stay with you long after the credits roll. It’s bold, gripping, and beautifully shot, with a soundtrack that adds even more depth to the experience.

For me, Michael Jackson was such an integral part of my teens and tweens. His music, his energy, and his larger-than-life presence shaped so many memories from that time. Watching this film felt nostalgic, emotional, and a reminder of just how much of an impact he had on an entire generation.

Last night, 28 April 2026, Johannesburg turned into its very own slice of Manhattan as the official South African special screening of The Devil Wears Prada 2 unfolded at Ster-Kinekor Eastgate inside Eastgate Shopping Centre.

More than 500 invited guests, including media personalities, fashion insiders, celebrities, influencers, and industry tastemakers, stepped into an evening where fashion was not just worn, but performed. The dress code? Runway Ready, of course.

Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette on Disney+

In 1999, I was a young producer working at a production company in Cape Town, producing international commercials and dreaming big TV dreams. News travelled differently back then, whispered across edit suites, announced on radio bulletins, repeated in hushed conversations between takes.

That’s when I heard about the tragic plane crash that claimed the lives of John F. Kennedy Junior, his wife Carolyn Bessette-Kennedy, and her sister Lauren Bessette.
And I remember something very clearly.
The world mourned “American royalty.” The headlines focused on JFK Jr. The glamour. The dynasty. The legacy.
But quietly, heartbreakingly, the Bessette family lost two daughters that day.
That stayed with me.

So when I saw that Disney+ had debuted the official trailer for FX’s limited series Love Story: John F. Kennedy Jr. & Carolyn Bessette, it instantly took me back to that moment in 1999, to the shock, the disbelief. All 3 who passed were only in their thirties.

SABC 2 Enters A New Era

SABC 2 is ushering in a fresh chapter, one rooted in authentic South African storytelling, cultural familiarity and a deeper connection to everyday life. This New Era isn’t just a refresh; it’s a confident reimagining of what public broadcasting can look and feel like when it truly reflects its people.

At its heart, this evolution is about relevance. Programming that resonates emotionally. Stories grounded in lived South African experiences. And a channel that knows its audience, understands its purpose and intentionally serves viewers across generations.

As a first taste of what’s to come, SABC 2 is rolling out the first wave of New Era programming, setting the tone, energy and intent ahead of the full channel refresh launching on 9 February 2026.

I attended the re-launch this past week and here’s some of what you can look forward to seeing on SABC2. See video of event here.
