Ramenhead Opens in Cape Town

Ramen lovers in Cape Town can now eat handmade noodles and tip back bowlfuls of the finest, most authentic broth this side of Japan as Ramenhead, led by chefs Peter Tempelhoff and Ashley Moss, the duo behind award-winning Japanese-fusion restaurant FYN, is now open.

Downstairs from its elegant older sibling at Speakers Corner in the city centre, Ramenhead might be considered FYN’s cool little brother. Thanks to designer Tristan du Plessis’ Studio A, who were responsible for FYN’s celebrated interiors, Ramenhead is vibey, casual and playful, with indoor and outdoor tables, bar seating, an open ‘finishing’ kitchen where patrons can watch each bowl assembled to perfection and a noodle lab complete with white-coated production chefs manning the African continent’s only Yamamoto Noodle Machine.

Urchin Makes Waves in Cape Town’s Culinary Scene

The culinary panorama in the Mother City has been elevated with the opening of Urchin Restaurant, located at The Hyatt Regency Cape Town on Buitengracht Street.

There is a complexity to achieving true simplicity in a restaurant setting. It is an art. At Urchin Restaurant it is a beautifully and precisely choreographed ballet in which sustainable fresh fish and seafood are the prima and danseur. The hallmarks of the Urchin elemental ocean dining experience are underpinned by excellent, unobtrusive service, locally sourced and produced ingredients, and world class wine from a carefully curated wine cellar.

The Chef

Throughout his life, Chef Gerard van Staden has strived to achieve greatness within his chosen field, and so far, his personality and inquisitiveness have allowed him to achieve many great things in South Africa and abroad. Growing up in a single parent family in Zimbabwe, Gerard taught himself to cook out of necessity, not knowing that he was following a path which would eventually lead him to becoming acclaimed Chef of the Year on three occasions, alongside South Africa’s Number One restaurant in two different locations.

DJ Kyeezi Opens Destiny – New Upmarket Lounge in Cape Town

Together with three industry friends, popular radio and media personality DJ Kyeezi announced his latest business endeavor DESTINY, a luxury champagne lounge that opened in the Cape Town inner city this week – just in time for the festive season.

Radio personality Khanya ‘Kyeezi’ Siyengo earlier this year joined forces with three partners, restaurateur extraordinaire Theo Pearson, experiential event specialist Bevan Chetty and marketing guru (and my personal friend) Natano Brache, to come up with a luxury destination, set to change the face of entertainment in the Cape Town CBD.

Having officially opened its doors, the launch was attended by local celebrities, media and other key industry players including AKA, Clarissa Cupido, DJ Milkshake, Tamara Snow, Danine Naidoo, Chad Saaiman, Shahan Ramkissoon, Neevas Harris, culture kings Hayden Manuel and Rolo Rozay.

This premium champagne lounge targets a young discerning, affluent local and international clientele. Nestled in the heart of the city, DESTINY plans to set the precedent for the highest quality entertainment with a combination of class, luxury and style offering the ultimate summer experience.

The Future of Office Working Space: More Innovation, Less Stress

We’ve seen Airbnb disrupt the entire hospitality industry and today, the biggest taxi company in the world, Uber, doesn’t own a single vehicle. Shared space and assets are not only more practical and affordable than the alternative, but are also rising in popularity globally.

In Cape Town, Africa’s most expensive city for real estate, co-working spaces have become the go-to option for entrepreneurs, intrapreneurs, SME’s or large companies.

Inner City | Ideas Cartel (IC | IC), located in the heart of Cape Town, offers a diverse, luxury experience. In addition to the co-working offices, company offices, meeting rooms, there’s also a magnificent rooftop and 98-seater auditorium used for events. Members of Inner City | Ideas Cartel have full access to the 11-storey building’s restaurant, coffee bar, library, gym, tailor, barber and rooftop pool.

Painting Joburg Blu (Radisson Blu)

Back when I lived in Cape Town and worked as a Production Manager on international commercials, I often went to view hotels, so that I could see where our overseas clients would be staying. I was reminded of this time in my career, when I was invited (together with a group of other influencers, bloggers and media) to experience what the Radisson Hotels in Johannesburg have to offer clients. Enter #BluJoburg.

Debs Logo Stacked.indd

In 1991, two students from Pietermaritzburg, in KwaZulu Natal, decided to start Debonairs Pizza. Now, 25 years on, the South African franchise is celebrating the opening of its 600th store, in Botshabelo near Bloemfontein, in the Free State, on 28 November 2016.

With summer upon us, there is no excuse not to have some quality time outdoors, with family and friends, while enjoying a delicious Debonairs Pizza. After all, they invented the Triple-Decker® and the Crammed-Crust®.

Welcome to Mzansi Life & Style!

I started this blog because I love Mzansi (South Africa) and I want to showcase the stunning style, happenings and life that is all part and parcel of living at the Southern tip of Africa.

I was born in beautiful Cape Town and migrated to Jozi (Johannesburg) in 2003 for work purposes. Attending functions, parties, launches and site-seeing became part of my life, coupled with sourcing celebs for the show I content produced (Spirit Sundae on SABC1). Besides this, getting to know the highways and byways of Jozi, increasing my social circle and having ambrosial culinary experiences begs to be documented. And since my being hired as a Lifestyle Editor for a local glossy is as rare as winning the Lotto, I decided to make this blog one of my dream jobs.

So, you can look forward to highlights of events, what’s hip ‘n happening, behind the scenes of shoots with celebs and my own personal sartorial elegance.

First pic – the very practical and comfortable, yet stylish, Black Coffee Concept Dress that I wore to this year’s SA Music Awards.
