Set against the picturesque backdrop of Cabo Beach Club, this musical extravaganza promises an experience that transcends boundaries, officially kicking off the countdown to New Years Eve in the mother city.
Headlining this extraordinary event are the illustrious powerhitters Ami Faku and Zoë Modiga, renowned for their soul-stirring vocals and magnetic stage presence.
The trees are up, the lights are on, and the joyful hum of gift wrapping has begun. Sandton City, Africa’s premier shopping destination, is orchestrating a symphony of excitement to ensure this festive season surpasses all expectations.
For starters, a uniquely crafted children’s’ theatre production, Momo’s Magical Adventure, is set to enchant shoppers of all ages, this coming holiday. Shows have started in a bespoke crafted tent in the centre court outside Checkers and will run until 7 January 2024. In this heart-warming tale, Momo’s friends have left Johannesburg for the summer holidays to go to the sea and she’s the only one left in the big city. Time has passed by slowly, but Momo’s favourite night of the year has finally arrived- it’s Christmas Eve! Four live performances of this charming production will take place daily at 10.30am, 12.30pm, 3.30pm and 5.30pm, from Tuesday to Sunday. As the country steps into the festive season, Johannesburg families have something brand-new to look forward to. The DreamWorks channel’s first-ever activation in South Africa, DreamWorks “Find the Fun”, is now open at the Mall of Africa in Midrand. Visitors of all ages are invited to enjoy the unique and enthralling experience, which promises fun for the whole family this festive season.
Open until 23 December 2023, the immersive DreamWorks “Find the Fun” zone is stationed in the centre court, close to Spur. Young visitors can try their balance with How to Train Your Dragon cloud stepping-stones; trail and slide down a Trolls rainbow; test their memory skills with the Trollhunters memory game wall; play on mini trampolines and a DreamWorks-inspired hopscotch; have fun with a face cut-out wall and a soft play area; and win prizes through exciting games. DreamWorks “Find the Fun” also includes a screening area, where kids can enjoy the DreamWorks channel offering.
The Walt Disney Company Africa’s #MayYourWishesComeTrue campaign continued the festive celebrations this December with a special surprise-and-delight activation aboard the Disney-inspired LIFT airplane.
Over 150 passengers, travelling from Johannesburg to Cape Town were welcomed by “Wish Agents” at their boarding gate at OR Tambo International Airport on 1 December, with each child being asked what their wish for Christmas was. With their wishes adorning a special Disney-inspired Christmas tree, the young passengers boarded flight GE123, unaware that a mere two hours later those wishes would be fulfilled.
Behind the scenes the requests were communicated to Disney’s Wish Agents, on standby at Canal Walk Shopping Centre in Cape Town, who swung into action to shop up a storm, wrap the gifts and transport them to Cape Town International Airport in time for the passengers to disembark.
From bicycles, “Disney Princess The Little Mermaid” figurines, Lego® sets to even Spider-man Sony PlayStation 5’s, all the requested wishes came true as passengers disembarked the plane and entered the specially-branded walkway to meet the Wish Agents. In addition, each traveler was gifted a Disney Mickey plush toy and a subscription to Disney+.
