Primal Survivor: Extreme African Safari On National Geographic

Wilderness explorer and survival expert, Hazen Audel has long been an audience favourite as he takes on journeys in some of the world’s wildest places, braving the elements and navigating challenging terrain. Now, the intrepid adventurer takes on his first extreme safari expedition through east Africa’s legendary Great Rift Valley. Audel’s incredible journey is captured in Primal Survivor: Extreme African Safari which will premiere on National Geographic across Africa (DStv 181) from Wednesday 22 November 2023 at 21:00 (CAT).

As a former biology teacher, he’s always known the valley as the world’s greatest hub for wildlife. The chance to trek 800 kilometers through its diverse wilderness in migration season and survive out in the open amongst magnificent animals, is a life-long dream. Along the way, Audel will cross grasslands, caves, mountains and river valleys, on foot, in his quest to experience Africa’s greatest natural spectacle, the great Wildebeest migration in the Serengeti.

Play Room is South Africa’s Newest 24-hour Children’s TV Channel

Play Room, South Africa’s newest 24-hour Children’s TV Channel went live at 3pm on 6 November, kicking off with the channel’s flagship show, Play Room Live! – a multilingual live studio show which brings a fresh cohort of youthful talent to the screen. Presenters include Thando Madondo, Thato Benani, Paballo Koza, Shudu Mathagwa, Kgaohelo Moloi, Ipeleng Malepe and sign-language interpreter Kanya Msweli making their debuts.

Play Room will combine education and entertainment in a uniquely local package carrying original South African and popular international content, including favourite animated titles dubbed into isiZulu, such as Cocomelon and Akili and Me.

Disney Africa and LIFT Unveil Plane Livery This Holiday Season

The Walt Disney Company Africa and LIFT recently unveiled a co-branded celebratory aircraft livery to kick-off Disney’s biggest festive campaign to date in South Africa, “May Your Wishes Come True”.

The livery features some of the most iconic and memorable characters from Disney, MARVEL and Star WarsM, including: Disney’s Mickey and Minnie Mouse, Moana, Black Panther, GroguM, Elsa, Spidey. A brand new character also makes an appearance, Asha, from Walt Disney Animation Studios’ upcoming “Wish”, which releases in cinemas nationwide from 22 November.

The Disney inspired plane (tail number ZS-GAS) will appear in South African skies and at airports from 20 October and service routes between Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban.

E! Hosts Feel Good TV Brunch at E L & N Cafe

In celebration of its upcoming programming slate, E! – the multi-platform brand dedicated to all things pop culture from NBCUniversal International Networks & Direct-to-Consumer (NBCUIN & DTC) – hosted a “Feel Good TV” brunch in Johannesburg, this week. At the event, hosted by Anele Mdoda, E! revealed the impressive lineup of programming coming to the channel this October, as well as a new brand campaign for the channel. Mdoda stunned in a pink number, while she described the upcoming content as “exciting and super feel-good!”

Viewers across Africa can look forward to brand new series Black Pop: Celebrating the Power of Black Culture and House of Villains, as well as fan favourites Botched and Million Dollar Listing New York, returning with new seasons, all premiering this month.

Guests, including Msizi James, Karishma Ramdev, Tansey Coetzee, Mimi Mahlasela, Prev Reddy, Abigail Visagie, Margo Fargo, Karabo Didi, Taryn Louch and Gina Myers, were treated to a themed brunch at the newly opened EL&N Café at Mall of Africa with the feel-good experience completed with gift bags filled with fragrance from Guess and cosmetics from Revlon.
