Emmy Nominated Project Runway comes to Mzansi Magic

The fashion design reality show that kick started many a career, including that of Christian Siriano, is coming to South Africa! Mzansi Magic and Ndalo Pictures in association with 4th STREET Wines and production partners Rapid Blue, are proud to announce that a local version of Project Runway is about to grace South African television screens.

I recently attended the reveal event, where it was announced that the gorgeous, sassy and vibrant Lerato Kganyago will step into the role of the host for Project Runway South Africa.

In the weeks building up to this annoucement, like the layers of a Gert-Johan Coetzee couture gown, first the judges, then the mentor and now the host has finally been revealed.

Fearlessly high on trend, Kganyago is the go-getting former beauty queen, television talk show host, presenter, DJ, entrepreneur and actress who scooped this year’s SAFTA for Best TV Presenter and stole the hearts of everyone at Project Runway SA.

Pandora’s New Shine Range

We all need a bit of sparkle in our lives, and I got to experience a bit of bling at the launch of Pandora’s new Shine range. In my opinion, Pandora is somewhere in the middle range – it is much more expensive than fashion jewellery stores like Lovisa and Collette Hayman, but way less than stores like Sterns and American Swiss, so it fills a niche market.

Bride & Co with EuroSuit – New 2018 Collection

Bride & Co along with Eurosuit recently launched their 2018 Collection, at the hip Mesh Club in Rosebank, Johannesburg. It’s not everyday that one gets to see exquisite wedding dresses up close and personal, so it was a rare opportunity to touch and feel the gowns.

It was a good idea to have @Tali_Babes (the character from Showmax’s “Tali’s Wedding Diary”) as the “virtual host” to introduce the evening. I say virtual because Tali was on a video recording, who welcomed guests before the welcome drinks.

How Do I Look? South Africa on E! Entertainment Television

Hosts of How Do I Look? SA – Kat Sinivasan and Roxy Burger

I’ve always loved a good make-over show, so I was delighted to hear that E! Entertainment’s local version of “How Do I Look?” will be starting this week on DSTV channel 124.

I attended the launch event last week at the Diamond Walk in Sandton City. The trend these days, it seems, it so have launches along side expensive boutiques in the walkway of malls, with the chairs and screens erected, plus a lounge vibe created with luxurious couches and bubbly.

Skip Fashion Exchange

I grew up with “hand me downs” and wearing some of my mother’s and grandmother’s clothing, bringing an authentic realness to the term “vintage”.

In fact, I still wear one or two items of clothing that belonged to my late mother, and to me, it is still stylish to this day. I’ve also swapped clothing with friends, and find nothing wrong with wearing “previously owned” clothing, as long as it is in good shape.

Enter the Skip Fashion Exchange, which takes swapping clothing to a new level. I attended the launch the other evening, at Sandton City Mall, in Johannesburg, and was eager to see what I could swap for my Mango pleated colourful skirt. (Pity that I forgot to take a photo of this skirt before I handed it in).
