A Magical Media Night with Mo Magic

I first heard about Mo Magic when my husband was working on a show called “Holiday Swap” about 3 years ago, and Mo was a contestant. I was told about his “mind magic tricks” and spoon bending, so I was well intrigued when I got an invite to the media launch, which we attended last night. We all need a bit of magical delight in our lives, now and again, so this was welcomed.

Terracotta Army at Silverstar Casino

For those who may not know this bit of info about my ancestry, I am one eighth Chinese. How I came to that calculation is a post for another day, but suffice to say, my great grandfather was born in the then Canton province of southern China. (It is now called Guangdong – former official name was Kwangtung). So, anything relating to China is usually of interest to me, and hence, I was keen to go see the Terracotta Army and the First Emperor of China: The Exhibition.

Now, I’ve seen bits and pieces of the what is known as the Terracotta Army either in the movies or documentaries over the years, but I never really knew what they were all about – until now. Thanks to this exhibition that is currently on at Silverstar Casino in Krugersdorp (now called Mogale City) in Johannesburg.

3SIXTY Montecasino launches new menu

3Sixty recently launched their new menu, with a 10 course tasting menu to selected media. Mzansi Life & Style was lucky enough to be part of this selection.

Blake Anderson was appointed as the Complex Executive Chef of Gauteng’s premier entertainment destination, Montecasino, in October last year and, having spent the first six months settling in to the challenges of running a 24/7 operation, has now turned his significant culinary talents to reinventing the menu of the property’s trademark restaurant on the casino floor.

The National Eatery & Speakeasy, located in Parktown North, Johannesburg, hosted food bloggers recently to showcase a selection of their signature dishes from their new Winter menu. Chef James Diack and his team gave us the menu below, allowing us to select our own preferred dishes. This I prefer to the little and many taste plates sometimes offered to us at such events. Being able to enjoy the full size portions allows me to experience their food exactly the way you will, when you visit The National.
