As the year draws to a close, it’s time for some reflection…

Why are we here? What is the meaning of life? Why was I born? These are all questions that we have asked ourselves, sometimes at the lowest part of our lives, when we have hit rock bottom, no matter our age.

For me, it was when I was 5 years old and I had my first existential crisis. Of course, I did not know what it was called back then… just this feeling of anxiety that no 5 year old should ever feel. What happens when we die? Is there really a Heaven? What will happen when my mother and grandmother and family die, who will take care of me? Why am I here? Was I a mistake? Continue reading

Rock of Ages at the Lyric Theatre #RocktheCity

I saw the movie version of Rock of Ages back in 2012. It starred Tom Cruise at Stacee Jaxx, Julianne Hough as Sherrie Christian and Alec Baldwin as Dennis Dupree.

Now, the theatre production of Rock of Ages is currently on at the Lyric Theatre at Gold Reef City in Johannesburg, and I attended the media preview last week.

A Night at the Palace – The Palace of the Lost City – Hotel Review

My first experience of the Sun City resort was back in 1989. I was 15 years old, it was the first time I had ever gone anywhere on holiday and it my first time on a plane. I had the opportunity to see the resort many times since then, but I’ve never stayed at The Palace of the Lost City (the most expensive hotel within the Sun City Resort) until last month, when I was invited to enjoy #ANightAtThePalace.

Painting Joburg Blu (Radisson Blu)

Back when I lived in Cape Town and worked as a Production Manager on international commercials, I often went to view hotels, so that I could see where our overseas clients would be staying. Studio MoMa Beauty Salon Review

It’s not everyday that an independent nail bar / beauty salon opens up, especially when it opens in a location that is not a mall or shopping centre. But this is the case with the newly opened luxury beauty salon called Studio MoMa. It is situated in the BDO Building in Parktown, Johannesburg. I was treated to a manicure and a chance to see what else the nail bar, soon to be full salon, had up its sleeve.
