Every now and again, one finds little ambrosial gems right in your own back yard, or as I discovered today, less than a kilometre away from home, in Boskruin Office Park. Yes, Urban Angel Cafe is situated in an office park in Boskruin, Johannesburg but don’t let that deter you. Reasonable prices and fresh food are always a hit in my book, and both can be found at Urban Angel Cafe.

The Garden of Lights at Emperors Palace, in Johannesburg, is an annual event that takes place between 5 December 2014 and 4 January 2015. As the name suggests, it literally is a garden filled with amazing festive light displays accompanied by Christmas carols.

Calvin Klein Opens First Store in SA at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town

My first Calvin Klein exposure as a teenager was the iconic Mark Wahlberg and Kate Moss cK Jeans ads. Like many teens back in the late 80’s, I too had this ad campaign on my wall, thinking that it was the coolest thing since sliced bread!

When Calvin Klein launched their perfume called Escape, back in the early 1990’s, it quickly became my most desired perfume, but at that time, no cK products were readily available in South Africa. I had found samples of it in international magazines and it immediately went on to my wish list.

I spent my first white Christmas in Germany back in 1995, and it was truly magical. My first snow experience was at midnight in the grounds of a castle in Detmold, Germany. I also loved the Christmas markets in the town square and the smell of all those yuletide goodies to eat and drink.

I first met Marc Lottering back in 2009 when I was a Producer for the SABC1 show Spirit Sundae, and I can truly say that he is as down to earth in real life as he is on stage. His latest show has an aviation theme, and the characters that he portrays are cleverly linked to this theme. “This is Captain Lottering Speaking” is currently on at the Pieter Toerien Montecasino Theatre and Studio. Mr Lottering never disappoints in the humour department, you’ll laugh so much, you’ll need tissues for the tears and smudged mascara!
