Get ready for a night of laughter, legends, and a little bit of chaos (the good kind) as we unveil the powerhouse duo steering the comedy ship at the 12th Annual Savanna Comics’ Choice Comedy Awards: none other than Nina Hastie and Carvin H Goldstone.

These two comedy titans will take the stage as your hosts, armed with razor-sharp wit, undeniable charm, and a talent for keeping audiences on their toes (and in stitches). With Nina’s fearless, no holds barred humour and Carvin’s storytelling genius, we’re in for an unforgettable night at The Lyric Theatre on Saturday, 12 April 2025.

A night like this deserves an epic cast, and in addition to our amazing MCs, we’re delivering just that. Bringing the funny are some of SA’s top comedic talents, including:

Valentine’s Month Events at Sibaya Casino & Entertainment

Pre-Valentine’s Bollywood Musical Evening – Saturday, 08 February 2025

Move quickly to secure tickets for the almost-sold-out “Pre-Valentine’s Bollywood Musical Evening” on Saturday, 08 February 2025, which promises to be a night of glitz, glamour, songs and choreography in true Bollywood style.

Two live bands with vocalists will provide the music for the evening, which is an annual highlight on the calendar. In 2024, it took place in Sibaya’s Imbizo Conference Centre; this year, it will be bigger and better in the seated environment of the iZulu Theatre at Sibaya Casino & Entertainment World.

South Africa’s Zulu Version of “Superstore” Announced

I was a super fan of the NBC series called “Superstore” which is a US comedy about the work and private lives of the staff at a fictional bulk buy store called Cloud 9. As a former TV Producer and Commercials Production Manager, I always said that a local version of this show would make for a good comedy series and now that is actually a reality!

NBCUniversal Formats and African streamer Showmax have announced a new format agreement, which will bring a South African Zulu-language adaptation of NBCUniversal’s hit US comedy Superstore.

Superstore marks the second comedy format adaptation from Showmax, who have also licensed The Office from the BBC.  

Superstore is licensed globally by NBCUniversal Formats, a division of Universal International Studios, which is part of Universal Studio Group. This will be the second non-English version of Superstore, following Supertitlán, the Latin adaptation of the format in Mexico.
