Kings and Queens of Comedy

In medieval times, a jester was employed by a nobleman or monarch to entertain him and his guests.  The heavyweights of South African comedy are by no means jesters, but they certainly do entertain… Catch the Kings & Queens of Comedy at the Sandton Convention Centre on Friday, 21 July for a show of hysterical proportions.

Shining their comical armour and sharpening their witty swords for the night, the stellar line-up of comedy giants includes Joey Rasdien (MC), Khanyisa Bunu, Krijay Govender, Mark Banks, Mpho Popps, Muthu Murugan, Ndumiso Lindi, Rob van Vuuren, Tracey-Lee Oliver, Trevor Gumbi and Tumi Morake.

Robin Thicke to perform at the Vodacom Durban July

Earlier this month, in a Vodacom Durban July first, entertainment powerhouse Mabala Noise announced the first official Vodacom Durban July Launch Concert with hit sensation Tory Lanez.

Mabala Noise, in association with Channel O and East Coast Radio, is now proud to also announce that RnB Superstar Robin Thicke will form part of the massive Vodacom Durban July Launch Concert.

I recently attended the Dressed To Give Fashion Show sponsored by Luminance. Here are my favourite looks from the event and some notes on what went down…

  • Dressed To Give was a charity fashion show with proceeds going to women & children in risk and the Lupus Foundation, sponsored by Luminance.
  • The fashion show was produced by international producer Jan Malan.
  • Guests included CEO of Luminance Dr Judy Dlamini, President of WIZO Foundation Helen Maisel Trisk, Founder of SA Fashion Week Lucilla Booyzen, designers David Tlale, Suzaan Heyns, Erre, Laduma Ngxokolo, Rahim Rawjee; editors Jenny Andrew, Sharon Becker, Jacquie Myburg, actress Terry Pheto. Performances from Louise Carver, Laurie Levine & DJ Kimmy K
  • Caster Semenya walked the runway in Row-G
  • David Tlale showed exclusive pieces from his collection
  • MaXhosa by Laduma debuted his latest collection
  • Suzann Heyns collaborated with Franz Grabe to bring the Tree Of Life theme across in the opening scene.

Embrace Your Natural Hair With Clicks

The hair care industry worldwide is an enormous business. From products, hair stylists to appliances and hair pieces, it seems like a niche market can be found anywhere in the world, because we all need to wash our hair, right?

Usually,  I leave my semi-curly hair to its own devices on the weekends, and blow it out for work on week days. Either way, my products keep changing as I experiment with what works best – a hair brand slut, of sorts.
