It’s not everyday at that a new, independent (not part of a franchise) spa and salon opens up, so I was keen to try out Divaz Spa & Salon, when I was invited to review it.

Situated in Langhams Lifestyle Estate in Fourways, Johannesburg, the spa is a “hop, skip and a jump” away from Montecasino. The fact that it is not in a mall helps, because one just has to park in the ample space parking lot and you are right at the entrance of the salon.

I was welcomed by Fatima Omar, the Spa Owner and Belinda Aslett, the Spa Manager.

I was impressed by the size of the spa and salon. Even though there are no pools, saunas and steam rooms, the uniqueness lies in the fact that it is divided into two sections: one for kids and one for adults. The idea is that you can book your kids for a mini spa pampering and activities in the Kids Spa while you relax and rejuvenate in the Adults only section. The sections are completely separate as well. Fatima and her team can arrange kiddie birthday parties, pyjamas parties, bridal showers, baby showers etc. and can accommodate up to 40 adults or children in the large space. I was then introduced to my therapist, Ntombi, who led me to the adult section of the spa, to enjoy a luxurious facial coupled with a back massage and hand treatment. The treatment room is big enough for dual treatments, so you and a friend or partner can enjoy massages together.

 

 

 

Initially, I thought I was just having a facial, but was pleasantly surprised to learn that the session also included a back massage and hand treatment and took 90 minutes. Ntombi asked me if I wanted her to explain what she was doing, and I said yes, as I always find it useful to know what steps and products are being used during a facial. She then administered SIX Sensational Skincare products, ranging from a cleanser, soothing lotion, brightening treatment, moisture boosting oil, vitamin boosting oil and moisturising cream. My hands also got some TLC and were placed in warm, cosy mittens for the duration of the facial. By the end of 90 minutes, my face felt really soft and the my skin dryness had evaporated!

Divaz is currently running a special, so you pay R599 for the facial and you also receive a free manicure or pedicure. The session is 90 minutes and includes a back massage and hand treatment.

The rest of the adult section has manicure and pedicure stations – the neatest I have seen in a long time!

 

 

 

Divaz Spa & Salon has its own range of products as well – ranging from bath treats to creams.

 

 

All in all, the space, expertise and range of options and products at Divaz Spa and Salon will keep you going back for more. Since it is not located in a mall, you park and walk right in. Once you are done, you don’t need to navigate your way around a noisy mall to get back to your car, and risk someone tramping on your newly painted toes! (This has happened to me before). Clearly, a lot of hours of love, dedication and hard work has gone into the creation of this business.
