Discovery Health and Uber Flu Vaccinations

Uber and Discovery

Even though the winter weather here in Johannesburg is lovely (on average 25 degrees celsius) flu season may be upon us, so Discovery Health and Uber have collaborated to bring you flu vaccinations on demand.

From  10h00 to 15h00 this Friday, 22 May 2015, you can request a flu vaccination to your doorstep with Uber and Discovery Health. Simply open up your Uber app at 10h00, toggle over the red cross icon and request a ride as you normally would. Within minutes, a Discovery-Accredited nurse will arrive at your location, ready to administer flu vaccinations for up to 5 individuals (for a total cost of just R100.)

All Discovery Vitality members will earn 1000 Vitality points following their flu vaccination and all DiscoveryCard holders, who add their DiscoveryCard to their Uber account, will have the R100 home visit fee refunded.

You will be notified on the app when your car will collect you via the nifty estimated time of arrival info, which is usually within 5 to 10 minutes, depending on how many cars are in your vicinity. When you sign up for the app, you also load your debit or credit card details, so at the end of your journey, your card automatically gets debited, so no cash changes hands, making it safer than a usual metered taxi. Our driver was friendly and polite and I rated him 5 stars at the end of the journey.
