I bought my very first copy of Cosmopolitan (South Africa) magazine in 1990. In fact, I still have the copy somewhere, and I’ve been a dedicated “Fun, Fearless Female” ever since.
So I was “over the moon” when I found out that the new reality show, “So Cosmo” will be on E! Entertainment very soon. The 20 minute preview special is currently on the DSTV loop, having started on 1 March.
E!’s new docu-series, So Cosmo follows the work hard, play hard lifestyles of the young women and men whose real-life experiences inspire the pages of Cosmopolitan Magazine. Always the first to hear what’s hot in music, fashion, style, beauty, sex and celebrities, these tastemakers don’t follow trends, they create them. The all access, VIP life provided by Cosmo is exhilarating and exhausting, but what happens when the staff turns our attention to their personal lives? Viewers will see how the team copes when pushed past their limits by the influential but formidable former Editor-in-Chief and current Chief Content Officer of Hearst Magazines, Joanna Coles, who expects only the best. Who will rise to the occasion and who will fumble under pressure? The eight hour-long episode series uncovers the glamour and behind-the-scenes drama of celebrity encounters, fashion and beauty shoots in an all-access pass for everything “So Cosmo.”
“The magazine industry is a fantastic industry. It’s competitive, it’s rich, it’s fun, it’s full of deep, fabulousity,” says Coles. “It’s an amazing place and we try to capture all of it and throw it on the page for the reader.”
But it’s not all fashion, fun and runways. It’s hard work and there’s lots of drama among the Cosmo staffers.
In addition to Coles, the So Cosmo preview special introduces fans to Cosmopolitan‘s Diandra Barnwell (Brand Coordinator), Tiffany Reid (Senior Fashion Editor), Steven Brown (Bookings Director), Evan Betts (Fitness Contributor), Adam Mansuroglu (Fashion Editor), James Worthington Demolet (Senior Fashion Editor) and Leah Wyar (Executive Beauty Director).
