I recently joined 19 other bloggers with Zomato and The Glass Recycling Company, for a very unique event hosted by CNR Cafe in Craighall, Johannesburg.
As The Glass Recycling Company (TGRC) celebrates 10 years of encouraging glass recycling in South Africa, the team partnered with Zomato to celebrate restaurants that recycle glass.
So many wine bottles, beer bottles, pasta jars and other glass products are being sent to the landfill every day by South Africans which is a huge waste of resources, as glass is 100% recyclable and can be recycled infinitely.
TGRC certainly has a #Heart4Glass and hosted the blogger event to let guests know how easy it is to recycle glass. TGRC also invited the incredible Mobius Loop Glass Band to entertain the crowd. They believe in making music with the environment in mind. The band craft their instruments from glass, using old bottles and wine glasses to create beautiful sounds and melodies.
I got to meet Leandie du Randt who is an Actress, Presenter, MC, Motivational Speaker and Author of the self help book ‘Comfortable In Your Own Skin’ / ‘Gemaklik In Jou Eie Lyf’, as well as her musician husband, Bouwer Bosch.
TGRC provides glass banks across major centres in the country and it’s so simple to find a glass bank where you can drop off your bottles for recycling. Simply visit www.tgrc.co.za or SMS Glass and the name of your suburb to 32310 to find a bank near you (SMS charged at R1.00).
Currently 41% of glass bottles are recycled in SA. Encourage restaurants, malls, your family and friends to take up the challenge and recycle!
