I was super excited, last year, to hear that international retailer H&M was going to open a branch in the V & A Waterfront in Cape Town. Now, it has been announced that a branch is going to open in Sandton City in Johannesburg…oh happy day!

Here’s some more info about what to expect come November 2015.

H & M, Hennes and Mauritz (Pty) Ltd, will open their first Gauteng-based store at 11:00am on 7 November 2015, just weeks after opening the first South African store in Cape Town in October.

The international retailer, known for fashion and quality at the best price in a sustainable way, opens its doors on the upper level of Sandton City, Johannesburg’s golden shopping mile. The store will be approximately 3100 square meters and offers a feast for the fashion-forward fans of South Africa’s business capital. Set out on one level and combining the best of global architectural and retail development, the store boasts a truly modern and efficient shopping experience.
“It is really important that we bring H&M to Johannesburg. Here there is a vibrant urban energy and with that comes an insatiable demand for global style. So H&M is delighted to open the store in time for the festive season where customers can look forward to a wide variety of spring and summer collections,” says Pär Darj, Country Manager for H&M South Africa.
The Johannesburg store will showcase spring and summer collections for women, men, teens, kids and babies as well as accessories and underwear. The collections for women are saturated with texture, statement prints and sun-drenched colour. Denim is washed out, worn tone on tone and infused with bright summer white. Tropical prints are oversised and underpinned with an earth-based palette of rust, ochre and moss. Accentuating the ease of summer, the silhouettes are short, sharp and effortlessly playful.
Menswear offers an offbeat exception to office wear with a collection that accentuates summers simplicity in navy, black and crisp white. Tailoring and turn-ups provide a preppy alternative to the traditions of casual dressing and an authentic surf capsule brings true grit to beach basics. A highlight to the opening of the Sandton store will be the release of the H&M X Balmaination Designer Collaboration.
To celebrate the opening of the store and the HM X Balmaination Designer Collection, H&M will host an exclusive VIP Shopping Evening on the 4th November 2015 where invited guests will be treated to a shopping experience whilst being entertained by top South African DJs.
The store will be open to the public from 11am to 12 midnight on 7 November 2015 with a host of exclusive launch offers and opening day specials. Those eager customers first in line will be rewarded with a gift and the day promises an entertaining celebration of fashion and fun for all.
The store will be open on Sunday 8 November from 9.00am – 11.00pm and thereafter from 9.00am – 8.00pm each weekday.
