Garden of Lights at Emperors Palace

IMG_3824_2

The Garden of Lights at Emperors Palace, in Johannesburg, is an annual event that takes place between 5 December 2014 and 4 January 2015. As the name suggests, it literally is a garden filled with amazing festive light displays accompanied by Christmas carols.

However, be warned that the wait will be LONG! I mean, it took us about an hour to get into the parking lot, then a two hour wait in the queue. As the display only takes place on a weather permitting basis, this was the first night in a long time in Johannesburg, where the weather was absolutely perfect, not a cloud in sight, hence the thousands of people.

It was well worth the wait though, as you will see in the pictures below. A bonus is that entry is free, and practically nothing is free in Johannesburg! It is on until 4 January 2015, from 19h00 to 22h00, and it really is a wonderful experience, for young and old.
