Local extreme sports company Rush, recently opened its much anticipated jumping park, a 2,260 square metre cutting edge entertainment and sports centre, in Greenstone Shopping Centre, Edenvale, Johannesburg.
The Rush Indoor Trampoline Park, contains 1,700 square meters of jumping surfaces. It is the first of its kind in the world to have an adjustable hydraulic basketball hoop offering fun for the whole family. The park is also the first in the world to have glow-in-the-dark trampolines which doubles the fun for jumpers. The park consist of a full main court, extreme dodge ball, slam dunks, two foam pits and a basketball court.
Rush offers hourly sessions for freestyle vertical fun and the perfect venue for high flying birthday parties and team building for corporates. Owner, Jonathan Goosen, said although trampolines are normally associated with toddlers and young children, trampoline parks caters for all ages and even all shapes.
Rush offers one hour of low impact fitness training on the trampolines. “Our classes will help you burn up to 800 calories. Our fitness instructors will start you off with a fun warm-up and exercise fit for everyone,” he said.
Goosen said safety is their number one priority. “We have well trained staff, extensive safety rules and the equipment is designed for safety. Trampoline jumping is comparable in risk to other extreme sports like skateboarding, snow skiing, ice hockey and football. It is important that if you decide to participate in our exciting elements, you do so only within your ability and do not attempt advanced manoeuvres you have not mastered elsewhere.”
A recent study of trampoline parks across the US found an injury incident rate of 0.02%, with the most common injuries being trampoline burns and bruises. “Trampoline Parks have a better safety rate than any competitive sport. Follow our safety rules and the chances of injury are even less,” he said.
Co-owner, Chanette Goosen, said Rush is the perfect birthday party venue. “We offer one of a kind birthday parties, corporate event packages, school tours and a facility that can be hired by gymnastic clubs.
“Parents who prefer to be spectators, can make use of the work stations located on the first level, and take advantage of the light meals and drinks on offer from the Rush kitchen. We have a coffee bar and awesome cakes on offer. No eating is allowed before you jump but definitely after,” said Chanette.
Whether you are there for the fitness classes, slam dunks or bouncing, Rush offers something for everyone. Rush will be opening more parks across South Africa with long term plans to expand to the rest of the continent. Rush SA joins a family of partner parks in USA, UK, and New Zealand.
